Position Specifics: Continental Maritime of San Diego is currently seeking an experienced Electrical Journeyman to support our operations. Must be competent with industry practices, techniques, and standards. Requires thorough knowledge of electronics, as well as electricity. This includes, but is not limited to, experience with power generation, steam or gas turbine, motor driven, and static sources. Qualified individual must have the ability to demonstrate electro-mechanical skills and recognize electrical or electronic devices and circuitry used throughout the industry and must also be component in reading schematics and blueprints, accomplishing ship alterations with minimal supervision, and troubleshooting and repairing various electrical systems onboard Naval Ships. Experience maintaining and installing various electrical temporary systems onboard ships as well as experience in motor repair and weld machine maintenance and repair is a plus.

Minimum Qualifications:

NDT Examiner II                                                                                             1086

Position Specifics: Continental Maritime of San Diego is seeking a qualified NDT Examiner II to help support our operations. The NDT Examiner II will manage and oversee Continental Maritime’s Welding and NDT Program to ensure compliance with NAVSEA Welding, NDT requirements, and other contractual requirements. Must be able to accomplish Internal Audit of the Welding and NDT program in compliance with Company and Customer requirements and process improvement program. Qualified individual will develop and administer NDT personnel training and certification programs. This individual will also train, examine, and certify nondestructive test (NDT) Level I and II personnel, ensuring that NDT personnel are competent and qualified to perform the applicable NDT tests in conformance with contractual requirements.

 NDT Examiner II will develop and maintain NDT, Welding procedures, and workmanship standards, while ensuring the adequacy of the program. Other responsibilities include, but are not limited to, developing and maintaining Welding Workmanship and Qualification Program to ensure welders and welding operator qualifications comply with NAVSEA standards and contractual requirements, providing welding workmanship training and examination for all welders and inspectors in compliance with Company and Customer requirements, developing and maintaining Welding Procedures in compliance with NAVSEA and contractual requirements, developing welding surveillance program, and providing training to Quality and Production QCI personnel in conducting weld surveillances. Must be competent in interpreting drawings and work specifications, procedures, and other technical requirements. Must possess the ability to accomplish NDT inspections to support production as necessary.

Must be able to compile and prepare technical and interpretive reports relating to NDT workmanship trends such as analysis of reject rates, the resolution of problems, and the impact of methodology changes on manufacturing and inspection operations. This position will assist the Quality Assurance Manager in reporting adverse trends in relation to NDT and welding program as part of the Management Review process. This position is also responsible for writing Condition Found Reports (CFR) and Corrective Action Request for resolution of all quality discrepancies found during surveillance, NDT inspection and audit performance, as well as monitoring NDT Inspection and welding subcontractors to ensure compliance with contractual requirements, while accomplishing other work as the Quality Assurance Manager may direct.

Minimum Qualifications:

·         Must be a certified Nondestructive Test Examiner (ASNT Level III or NAVSEA NDT Examiner), having fulfilled all prescribed education and experience requirements.

·         Must have four years’ experience in Visual (VT), Liquid Penetrant (PT) and Magnetic Particle (MT) Inspection Methods.

·         Must have and be able to apply a demonstrated knowledge of applicable NDT techniques and methods, as well as their physical, chemical, and mathematical fundamentals.  

·         This position requires proficiency in analytical processes and effective interpersonal and communication skills.

·         Must possess good oral and written communication skills.

·         Must be computer literate with experience in Microsoft Office suite and database use.

Position Specifics: Continental Maritime of San Diego is currently seeking an experienced Electrical Leadman to support our operations. Qualified individual must be able to read schematics and blueprints, accomplish ship alterations with minimal supervision, and troubleshoot and repair various electrical systems on Naval Ships. Other required knowledge includes, but is not limited to, the ability to recognize electrical or electronic devices and circuitry used throughout the Maritime industry and knowledge of power distribution and equipment. Must also be competent in generating IDR’s (CFR) reports. This individual will be responsible for supervising and managing a crew to accomplish electrical installs onboard ship, as well as the coordination between trades and providing accurate information in order to accomplish a variety of tasks.

Minimum Qualifications:

·         US Citizenship required.

·         Ability to acquire a DBIDS credential is required.

·         Complete understanding of electronic components and circuitry.

·         Must have two to three years of experience working at the Leadman level.

 

Electrical Foreman                                                                                       1089

Position Specifics: Continental Maritime of San Diego is currently seeking an experienced Electrical Foreman to support our operations. Qualified individual will be responsible for overseeing all manufacturing, installation, operation, testing, and processing operations as it relates to the electrical department. The qualified individual will also supervise and train employees to improve quality and quantity of work performed. This position will be responsible for ensuring all work accomplished is performed in accordance with safety, quality and government standards. Must be able to solve complex problems in any electrical system encountered, such as troubleshooting and repairing various electrical systems on Naval Ships, and have the ability to read schematics and blueprints. Must have the ability to recognize electrical or electronic devices and circuitry used throughout the Maritime industry and possess knowledge of power distribution and equipment.

Minimum Qualifications:

·         US Citizenship required.

·         Ability to acquire a DBIDS credential is required.

·         Complete understanding of electronic components and circuitry.

·         A minimum of two to three years or experience working at the Foreman level is required.

 

 

Pipefitter Foreman                                                                                         1090

Position Specifics: Continental Maritime of San Diego is currently seeking an experienced Pipefitter Foreman to support our operations. A minimum of five years of prior shipboard/shipyard experience as a Pipefitter Leadman or Foreman is required. Must have prior experience supervising crews and possess an extensive knowledge of marine piping systems and pipefitting to Navy standards. Qualified individual will have a strong understanding of shipboard terminology, blueprint reading, joint design and identification of various materials. The Pipefitter Foreman is responsible for reviewing work packages, weld procedures, Bill of Materials (BOM), specifications, blueprints and writing and submitting IDR’s. Other responsibilities include but are not limited to, monitoring shipboard piping repairs, installation testing, and providing daily updates of work progress to department heads and management. Mathematical skills are required, as well familiarity with NAVSEA standard items and Test and Inspection Plans (TIP’s).

Minimum Qualifications:

·         US Citizenship is required.

·         The ability to acquire a DBIDS credential is required.

·         Ability to demonstrate knowledge of welding procedures, various types of welding equipment, proficient in flat, vertical, overhead, and horizontal welding in both arc and silver-brazing; GTAW welding and air-arc skills.

·         Complete and pass CMSD’s carbon-steel (C/S) pipe and copper-nickel (CuNi) test is all 6G positions.

·         Must be able to acquire certification to operate high reaching equipment.

·         Reading and understanding blueprints.

·         Must complete fire-watch training.

·         Must be able to work any shift.

 

Lagger Helper 3                                                                                              1101

Position Specifics: Continental Maritime of San Diego is currently seeking a Lagger to support our operations. The Lagger is responsible for measuring, cutting, and/or fabricating materials for insulation application to bulkheads, overheads, piping, ducts, machinery and equipment to reduce loss or absorption of heat, prevent moisture, condensation, and to dampen sound. PCMS certification is a preferred, but not required. Qualified individual must have a basic understanding of lagging materials layout patterns for hull boards, knowledge of ship piping systems, possess basic math skills for measuring fabrication and installation of lagging, and the ability the work from NAVSEA blueprints, specification, and NAVSEA Standard Items.

Minimum Qualifications:

·         US Citizenship is required.

·         The ability to acquire a DBIDS credential is required.

·         Ability to pass a safety test for operating man-lift, scissor-lift, and forklift.

·         Must be able to work any shift.

·         A minimum of six months of lagging and insulation repair experience on Navy Ships is required.

 

Contracts Administrator 1                                                                           1078

Position Specifics: Continental Maritime of San Diego is currently seeking a Contracts Administrator (CA) who will administer, extend, negotiate, and terminate standard and nonstandard contracts. The CA will conduct proposal preparation, contract negotiation, contract administration, and customer activities to provide proper contract acquisition and fulfillment in accordance with company policies, legal requirements, and customer specifications. In addition, the CA will examine estimates of material, equipment services, production costs, performance requirements, and delivery schedules to ensure accuracy and completeness. Other tasks include but are not limited to, preparing bids, processing specifications, advising management of contractual rights and obligation, compiling and analyzing data, and maintaining historical information. Opportunities exist for shipboard visits during the workday but not required based on experience level. The work is supporting the Maritime Industry, specifically Ship Repair on US Navy ships for the majority.

Minimum Qualifications:

·         Knowledge of Federal Acquisition Regulations/ Defense Acquisition Regulations and all applicable regulatory requirements or similar

·         US Citizenship is required.

·         The ability to acquire a DBIDS credential is required.

·         Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite or related software

Position Specifics: Continental Maritime of San Diego is currently seeking a Buyer who will research and procure materials, services and equipment for ship repair, conversion and auxiliary support areas. The buyer also locates, develops and utilizes suppliers to support ordering for departments, as well as estimates the Bill of Material (BOM) for use in bids and proposals, analyzes price comparison and selects vendors IAW and the Company purchasing procedures and FAR, manages material budgets, and advises production of material status and problems to ensure materials, services and equipment are ordered and delivered on required delivery dates.

Minimum Qualifications:

·         Requires ability to understand material requirements

·         Familiarity with Military Specifications, Military Standards, Federal Specifications, and ASTMs is a plus

·         Must be familiar with good purchasing practices.

·         Creative problem solvers with flexible, supportive attitude

Area Manager                                                                                               1096

Position Specifics: Continental Maritime of San Diego is currently seeking an experienced Area Manager to support our operations. The Area Manager reports to the Program Manager and is the company management representative responsible for the successful execution of a ship repair work package. Qualified individual will oversee and manage the operational aspects of ongoing projects and serve as a liaison between project management and planning, the project team, and line management. Area Manager also reviews status of projects and budgets, manages schedules, prepares status reports, assesses project issues and develops resolutions to meet productivity, quality, and client-satisfaction goals and objectives. Must have demonstrated experience developing mechanisms for monitoring project progress and for intervention and problem solving with project managers, line managers, and clients. Working knowledge of UC Navy/MSC/Commercial Ships and their systems is required. In-depth knowledge of ship repair and operation with a clear understanding of all types and phases of work with the ability to read and interpret blueprints, technical manual references, and work specification is also required. In the absence of a Program Manager, the Area Manager is the primary interface between the Company, the Ship’s Company, and the contracting agency(s).

In addition, the QAI will respond to corrective action reports assigned and will keep the Program Manager apprised of test and inspection statuses.

The Planner/Scheduler interprets work specifications and drawings, formulates, and develops resources loaded schedules, time-oriented work package networks and manpower management information utilizing Microsoft Project, EVM Software and the Integrated Management System. Maintains status through progressing and update interviews.

·         Knowledge of Navy ship operations, maintenance, and repair.

Position Specifics: Continental Maritime of San Diego is currently seeking a Recycling Technician to help facilitate company compliance with federal, state, and local environmental recycling and sustainability laws and regulations. The Recycling Technician will ensure recycled materials are properly sorted and transported to the appropriate container to achieve compliance. The candidate must have the ability to recognize, evaluate, and control improper sorting as well as educate employees on the topic of recycling. This position will also assist in the maintenance and development of the company’s environmental, recycling and sustainability practices.

Minimum Qualifications:

·         Must be a U.S. Person

·         Ability to acquire a DBIDS credential is required

·         Pervious forklift and recycling experience preferred.

·         Requires the ability to communicate effectively and professionally with all levels of employees.

Rigger 3                                                                                                          1076

Position Specifics: Continental Maritime of San Diego is currently seeking an experienced Rigger 3 to support our operations. The Rigger is responsible for using rigging material to lift, move, and position items onto ships or around the shipyard, conveying instructions to crane operators and forklift drivers using hand signals, loud speakers or radios. Other responsibilities include locating and loading materials and equipment on and off the ship, and in and out of the shipyard. Qualified individual must have demonstrated experience testing and installing rigging equipment such as cargo booms, elevators, boat davits, booms, portable davits, anchors, anchor chains, mobile cranes, sliding pad-eyes, and winches, controlling  the movement of heavy equipment through narrow openings or confined spaces, and selecting cables, wires, ropes, nylon lines, pulleys, winches, blocks, braces, and shackles according to weight, distribution, and size of load to be moved.

Minimum Qualifications:

·         US Citizenship is required.

·         The ability to acquire a DBIDS credential is required.

·         Must be able to work any shift.

·         A minimum of 3 years of applicable experience is required. Time as an Active Duty Navy BM can go towards this requirement.
